Load calculator
Fencing load calculator for multi-run jobs
Add each run on the job with its own length and height. The calculator totals the posts, rails, boards, gravel boards and post mix for the whole load.
Build your load
Straight closeboard runs. Each run starts and ends on its own post.
Working assumptions
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Posts | Bays at the chosen centres, plus one post per run; length is fence height plus 600mm |
| Rails | Fences to 1.2m get a pair of rails and taller ones get three; the heavier 100 x 50mm section is used from 2.1m upwards; rail length follows the post centres |
| Boards | 150mm boards edge to edge, board length equal to fence height |
| Gravel boards | One per two bays, same length as the rails |
| Post mix | 1 bag per 75 or 100 x 75mm post, 2 per 100 x 100mm post |
Not included, add as needed
- Gate posts and gates
- Corner and strainer posts where runs meet
- Extra length for stepped runs on slopes
- Spare boards for offcuts
Questions
Can runs share a corner post?
The calculator gives each run its own end posts. If two runs meet at a corner, you can take one post off the total.
Is the list fixed?
No. Once the load is in your basket, you can change or remove any line before checkout.
